Suitable for divers and snorkelers
Hin Bida is accesible for all. Leopard Sharks can be spotted also when snorkeling.
Hin Bida Diving site is a submerged reef site located between the Bida Islands and Koh Lanta island.
At low tide the reef breaks the surface and gradually drops to 20m, the majority of this dive is no deeper than 14m making it a good option if doing a three dive trip. The reef lies north to south, with three fingers towards the south and southwest that are separated by sandy patches. This part of the reef is the most vibrant.
Leopards Sharks are often seen here lying on the sandy areas of this Thailand dive site. Time to time they wake up for a little swim. In addition, look out for Stonefish and Pharaoh cuttlefish with a very distinct blue and white pattern.
Hin Bida is usually combined with Koh Bida Nok, Koh Bida Nai or the Kled Kaew Wreck dives. This dive site is one of the few that are open all year round. During the typical diving day, we like to dive in Hin Bida as the 3rd dive because of the amazing afternoon light and the shallow depth. It costs only additional 900thb to dive here as your third dive!
Are you a freediver? Holding your breath and swimming along the beautiful sea creatures of Hin Bida is definitely something for your memories! Whether you are a diver or a snorkeler it is quite easy to spot and enjoy one or more Leopard Sharks staying in the area. They normally lie somewhere at the bottom, not very deep.
Some corners of this site are very impressive, especially if you want to get amazing wide angle pictures. Here you can see school of fish as well as nice hard and soft corals. There are only a few other places like this in the area.
With a very good luck (and strong current), pelagic Spotted Eagle Rays are cruising around, which is not a common sight in our Koh Lanta waters. Hin Bida is one of the few reef formations in the area between Lanta and Phi Phi, so be ready for any surprise!
Hin Bida is accesible for all. Leopard Sharks can be spotted also when snorkeling.
Mild to strong. We use the tide tables in our dive planning.
Although visibility varies and can sometimes drop below this average, the normal visibility around this site is 8 – 15m.
These sites are excellent for Leopard or Zebra Sharks. They can be encountered all year round, also during low season.
See Hin Bida maps for more specific descriptions of the sites, however the max depth is 20m.
